Frank's Louisiana Red Beans and Rice


This is Frank's specialty. He is proud to serve this food to me hehe Well, I say Yes even if i don't like much beans but the taste is good :) Wanna share this recipe straight from his desk :)



1 bag kidney beans red

1 onion (chopped)

1 bell pepper (julianned)

ham chunks

garlic salt or garlic powder

salt and pepper


Instructions

1-rinse beans with strainer.

2-soak beans overnight with water.

3-fry ham chunks in pot with small amount of cooking oil. Stir . Do not let it burn. Use low heat.

4-take ham out of pot and set aside in a bowl.

5-Next, fry chopped onion in oil (small amount) Season with black pepper and garlic salt (or garlic powder and salt) to taste.

6-Remove fried onion and put in bowl.

7-Fry bell pepper in same pot then add garlic,salt and pepper.

8-Then add onion and ham on bell pepper. Add the soaked red beans and water. Simmer over low heat for 2-3 hrs until beans are tender.

9-Add more garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste.
