Edamame is actually a preparation of the baby soybeans in the pod. These pods are boiled in water together with salt, and served whole. Edamame is high in fiber and is good to serve with your regular diet. It can be served as an appetizer or added to any dish. By the way, the Japanese name literally means "twig bean."
Simply open pods and discard outer shells and enjoy it as a snack or you may add shelled, heated Edamame to your favorite stir-fry or salad. I like it without the shells to my salad. You should try it too. I bought this Edamame pack at Trader's Joe. It is fully cooked and salted so it is ready to eat.
