Haven't Been Out of the Kitchen Lately

It has been a while that hubby and I watched shows. Before I got a baby, we always buy tickets for any show that is showing at the Robobank Arena. We also watched games like baseball and others. I like sports. I even checked for Boston Celtics Tickets even if it's really impossible for me to get one.

Hubby and I love to watch magic shows too. I couldn't wait to get some David Copperfield Tickets, he's pretty popular. Maybe someday, we can watch shows again. I couldn't wait to get some Adele Tickets and Dane Cook Tickets. It's really hard for us to buy tickets and not sure if we can use it or not.

With our child, it's difficult to go out with him. But we can always take him to see children shows like Disney on Ice and Sesame Street. We watched the former but missed the latter. When I checked for Sesame Street Live Tickets, I found out that there are no more shows this year here in Bakersfield. So we will wait for next year again. If you guys want to buy tickets, you can check it out at Acheapseat.com.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

My friend, Isabelle, shared with me her Irish Corned Beef and Cabbage recipe last St. Patrick's Day. I kept it and wanting to try it one day since hubby bought 3 packs of corned beef which weigh at least 3 lbs per pack. So I was really excited to try it out. She said it was really good and it looked delicious too! Unfortunately, when I was ready to cook it, I missed a few ingredients. So I just cooked it in a very simple way, which is easier for a mommy like me.

In a pot, the meat was covered with water. I boiled the corned beef and simmered it for 90 minutes per lb.
30 minutes before the time, I added the vegetables: carrots, potatoes and celery. When it's almost done, the cabbage was then added.
I didn't put any salt or pepper since the meat was already spiced/seasoned.
When it was done, hubby shredded the meat to serving sizes. It was good!

Apple Store Coupons

Apple has been widely known for their IPods, IPads, IPhones and other electronic gadgets. Even everything is expensive, still there are people who are wanting to get and own such gadgets especially the IPhone. It would be nice to get it at a cheaper price and at least save some dollars.

If you are looking for coupons, you may want to check out the Apple Store coupons at BestOnlineCoupons.com. Visiting the website will let you get some Apple Store coupon codes and let you save money. They have online shopping savings available through the promo codes, free shipping deals, and online coupons. Just shop online and use an Apple coupon code that you got from the site for you to save. I would love to try it if ever I will be decided to buy any Apple product. I like to try their IPhone too! I heard their IPhone 4 is really cool! My phone is not from Apple as well as my personal computer too. My husband was about to get me an IPad but I told him not to yet. I'm still using the tablet PC which I enjoy using it since I can draw using a light pen. I might want to have an IPad too later. That is when I get a good deal and some Apple coupons.

D' Gourmet Filipino Cuisine

It's Dodo's place as what everybody knows it. D' Gourmet serves all kinds of Filipino Food. They cater too for birthdays and any type of occasions. They are located inside the Golden State Mall, at the food court. There's karaoke every saturday now. They just started it. I celebrated my birthday last year and this year too at their place. The filipino food they have are really good. It's affordable too. So try some.

Who Wants Gold?

I was watching this Korean drama "Midas" and this guy was holding a gold bullion. It reminds me of the other drama starred with Rain Bi who has found a bullion in his office. It came from a buried treasure by the soldiers long time ago.

How nice would it be if we could have one. I know it costs a lot of money. If I win the lottery, I would buy bullion and keep it safe. I would save gold coins too! It will be more expensive in the future so it is really a good investment to buy gold bullion. Even a small one has made us money. My husband found gold teeth and sold it. We've been keeping it for a while and had it cashed. We were surprised, those small pieces cost more than what we expected. If you are interested, click any of the links to know more about gold coins and gold bullion. Also information about gold IRA and more.

Panda Express!

My friend Marissa gave me this Panda Express gift card. I think I haven't there yet but I tried their food to go. Hubby and I always go to Bamboo Cafe, another Chinese place. We love it there so we never tried dining in another Chinese place. But I would enjoy this gift card and would love to try their new shrimp as what Mar has recommended. Also, their chow mein is good. I had tried it last Saturday, during the Bisdak Party. My other friend brought a tray of chow mein from Panda Express, and it was really good. Even my son has eaten a lot. It tasted like Filipino pancit. I would surely get some when we visit Panda Palace soon.

Now a Coffee Lover

I was not into coffee before but I have learned to love it since I got pregnant with my eldest son. Caffeine is not good when you are having a baby but 3 cups of coffee a day won't harm the little one.
I drink a half to a cup of coffee daily. Sometimes, I want more but I am really watching my caffeine intake. I was so happy when my friend gave me a coffee mug as my birthday gift. I might do the same to my husband since he is a coffee lover. There are good things we can get from coffee. It has antioxidants. No wonder, some of my friends are coffee addicts too! I might check out ShopWiki for gifts for them. I know they have anything we want. Hubby's birthday is coming up too!

Birthday Cake

Thanks to Yolly and Marissa for my birthday cake! This is Panda Palace's cake. It's our favorite cake to have everytime there's a birthday gathering among us friends (specifically the Jongdettes). Aside from Albertson's, this one is really good. I like it best when we talk about the cake texture. I like Alberston's cake filling too. Panda Palace in Bakersfield is a Chinese Buffet Restaurant. Don't leave without tasting the cake!

Cool Mobile Homes

I was surprised when I first checked our new home. It's a huge mobile home and it doesn't look like a mobile home in the inside. I especially like my new kitchen. I guess, this is how really tri-wide mobile homes look like and I just thought of that single-wide manufacturing homes which I always see. I saw a lot when we went to San Diego. So if you want to San Diego Mobile Homes, you will see different kinds of San Diego Manufactured Homes. It's pretty cool. Anyway, our home is located at our own lot and since we have plenty of land, we can still put up another mobile home with similar kitchen like ours of course. Someday.

John's Incredible Pizza

This is our third time at John's Incredible Pizza and as usual, we had a lot of fun! They always have good food. I like best the salad bar. It's healthier and yummy. Their pizza are delicious too and you get to choose any flavor as much as you want. It's a place where you can eat all you want from salad, pasta, pizza and dessert then kids and adults play with different fun games that include race car, bump cars and more. There are cool prizes too from the points you accumulate when playing the games and trying the rides. My son had a lot of fun. He doesn't understand much yet but he loves the rides. We will surely go back to this place. An incredible place with incredible for for everyone!

Applebee's Buffalo Wings

Hi guys! Inday is having a new baby. This is my second pregnancy, and it's more difficult than the first one. Morning sickness is worst! So I do crave food but not that much. My appetite is really not good. I can't eat anything that is why I lost a lot of weight. One of the food that I craved most was the Buffalo Wings at Applebee's. I really love it. I'm not into spicy food but I can take it. I like it even before and I like it more. I even bought a buffalo sauce and use it with any fried chicken or roasted chicken that we can have. But nothing beats the taste of Applebee's for me. I tried the other kind but still this one's the best. I am craving again while I am writing this. Let's see if I can ask hubby to have it later.

Undermount Sinks

We are now living at our new house. We just moved in last year and we really love the new place. The home is not that old, everything looks great except a few things. I think we need new undermount sinks. It would be nice if we have new ones. The rest in the bathroom look brand new. Although, cleaning is really needed but I still want to have new bathroom fixtures. I searched online and found out about MR Direct International which sells undermount, granite, and glass vessel, and porcelain sinks. They have a new sink line that features some of the most affordable prices on the market like around $100 compared to $400+ for name brands. Someday, if we have decided to change an undermount sink, we would consider checking this company. Then we will enjoy fully our new home.

A Party at Inday's Kitchen

Hurray! My son just turned one. Time flies really. So hubby and I prepared a party for him. We invited all our friends and family but only a few confirmed to make it. That's why I didn't cook much. Hubby helped me with the preparations, from decors to the food but I did mostly all the cooking. I chose dishes which are easy to make. The shrimp dish was baked, the egg rolls and chicken were fried while the rest were stir-fried and ready to serve. If you are alone and nobody is helping you with the cooking, it's would be wise to choose dishes which are really easy to prepare and be cooked simultaneously. The party started at 1:00 pm and I finished cooking at 12:00. I started cooking around 8:00 am. It took me a while with the frying but it was not difficult. I used a deep fryer so it was just a breeze. Thank God for the new kitchen, it made me do my tasks easily and had made my son's party successful. Next year again.

Feasting on Filipino Food

My friends visited me again for the second time. They are the same set of friends who had came here at the new place of ours for the first time. I really appreciate their efforts in waking up early and travelling 45 minutes just to visit us. So, I woke up early too and prepared filipino food for my filipino guests. I made my father's style chicken adobo, the dry one which was really good. Some torta talong were cooked too since I was really craving for eggplants. I made groundbeef and cabbage dish too. And lentil stew with fried fish and spinach. It tasted like our monggo so I cooked it in filipino way with fish.
I have my father's dry adobo recipe posted here somewhere but I would love to share it again. I just used a lb of meat, washed with water and placed in a pot. I added half cup soy sauce, half cup vinegar, half cup water, cloves of garlic and black pepper. Sometimes I add onions and bell pepper but I ran out of it. Then I simmered it while it was covered till tender. Then let it dry without covering it, stirring occasionally. When it's red or golden brown and dry, it's done. A bit of sauce is good too. The tortang talong recipe was already posted here as well as the ground beef and cabbage recipe. Will share the lentil recipe if you guys want it.

Chicago Wedding Reception Halls

A friend of mind in Chicago, Gen, posted a year as a shout out at Facebook. So I thought, it's the year that she will decide to tie the knot. I asked her about it and she just smiled. Then I remember Stan Mansion, a perfect place if she is looking for wedding reception halls.
I am not sure if she heard of it before but I would like to talk about it if we have the chance again to talk. If you are in Chicago and looking for chicago wedding reception halls, you might want to check out Stan mansion. They accommodate from Wedding Receptions to Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, Christenings, Communions and Chicago Corporate Event. Their goal is to create memorable events for their guests. So it would be nice if my friend would consider choosing Stan Mansion as one of his prospect wedding venues. They are committed to superior service their guests and will devote attention to fulfilling every need. I will definitely mention this again to Gen and to make sure that it will become the venue to her once in a lifetime event. May she have the perfect wedding in an unforgettable space. And also, she may have the best food to be served at her wedding reception.

Ground Beef and Cabbage

I have cooked this twice in a week. It's not only that my hubby and I love it but also to use the remaining half of the cabbage before it went bad. Goods are pricey nowadays so if possible, use all the bought grocery items if perishable. It will be a waste if it's thrown in the trash bag. So better cook it and enjoy it with the family. This dish is another way to cook the ground beef. Aside from making hamburger patties and spaghetti, ground beef is also good with rice. Try this one and you will like it too.
1 lb ground beef
half cabbage, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
onion, chopped
bell pepper, julienned
1 pork bouillItalicon cube
1 cup water
black pepper
1 tbsp cooking oil
This is easy to cook. In a pan or pot, cook the ground beef. Drain fat and set aside. Heat cooking oil and stir-fry garlic, onion and bell pepper. Add ground beef, water and cabbage. Cover and simmer for a few minutes. Then add pork bouillon cube, and black pepper. It will be done when cabbage is tender crisp. Serve with rice. On the picture: I topped it with sauteed mushrooms in butter with salt. It was really good!

Lentil Stew with Sausage

I got this recipe from from Safeway Brand Lentils package and it says: "Our tasters gave four-stars to this nutritious and easy to prepare entree. Smokey sausage, lots of spices and fresh greens give it wonderful flavor". This was this first time that I tried cooking lentils. I have heard its benefits and it is indeed very nutritious. So I tried cooking it and I have loved it! The taste is similar to Monggo, filipinos love it. I pre-soaked it which is not really necessary but I like it to get rid of the bitter taste. I guess, the nutritional value has lessen too. Anyways, I am posting the recipe as written on the package- just make adjustments for your own preferences. As for me, I didn't use dried sage, thyme and salt. Also, I only used 4 cups of tap water instead of chicken broth and used 1 and a half chicken bouillon cube. For the greens, since I don't have spinach or kale, I used malunggay leaves or horse radish leaves. Turned out good!

1 tablespoon olive oil
2 onions, chopped (about 2 cups)
3 garlic cloves, minced
4 carrots, coarsely chopped
1 lb smoked beef sausage, sliced
1 lb lentils, rinsed and drained
4 cups chicken broth
1 teaspoon dried sage
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt (to taste)
1 lb fresh kale, stems trimmed, leaves choppped (about 8 cups, Could use spinach)

1 In a 6 to 8 quart pot of Dutch oven, heat oil over medium-high heat.
2 Saute onions, garlic and carrots until soft, about 10 minutes.
3 Add sausage, lentils, broth, sage, thyme, pepper and salt.
4 Bring to a boil.
5 Reduce heat and simmer, covered, until lentils are barely tender, about 20 minutes.
6 Stir in kale or spinach.
7 Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes or until lentils are tender.
8 Ladle soup into soup bowls.
